Architecture

Schooling

Some schools I am looking at would include FSU and FAU. I am looking at these schools because I would have the possibility to play beach volleyball on a scholarship for them. This would allow me to achieve a degree for little cost. FSU is a valid option because they have a department of interior architecture and design. FAU is a pliable option as well because it is a school of architecture. Unfortunately, neither of these schools are approved by the National Architecture Crediting Board. Due to this, I will get a bachelors in engineering and then work toward a masters in architecture later on. Maybe at a different school. But thanks to their architecture programs I will be able to take some architecture classes both get me credits and to make sure architecture is what I want to pursue. To be a successful architect I will get a masters in architecture, this will require me to go to school for about seven or eight years. While in school I will have to take classes that cover architectural theory, construction technology, and building structures. I might also want to take classes that teach me computers and 3D design, for blue prints. I would also need to acquire a license.

Job Details

When entering the work field as an architect the beginning wage is 56,190. Later on in the career of an architect the average worker would make 72,100. In the field of architecture I could pursue the field of naval architecture, which interests me. In life I want to live on the water and being a naval architect would make it easy to find a job that allows me to live on the water. In order to get a license in architecture you must complete an internship and pass a written exam. What ever state I work in I have to have a license from that state to start any project there. I could also pursue a personal license through the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards. While competing an internship you must meet the training standards outlined by the Intern Development Program.

Naval Architecture

To be a Naval architect instead of a normal architect I would need slightly different schooling. I would need a degree in either naval architecture, marine engineering, or structural engineering. This would require either more schooling if I wanted a degree in both or different schooling if I just wanted a naval architecture degree. Naval architecture deals more with ship building for functionality like for the military, or ship building for style more for the upper class.

Family History

I have a good amount of family working in the fields of naval architecture and architecture. My father has a degree in naval architecture, he used his degree when he worked on oil rigs after he got out of college. My uncle, Steve, is an architect who built the catholic church on I-4 by lake Buena Vista. He also build about eight buildings on the University of Florida's campus. My family has even more engineers than architects and these two professions work hand in hand.
